The word “ideal” has a long history. It started in ancient Greek and went through Latin to become modern English and other languages. Its root is the Greek word “ἰδέᾱ” (idea), which means “idea” or “form.” This Greek word became “idea” in Latin, and a related word, “ideālis,” appeared in Late Latin to mean “existing in idea.” The Latin “ideālis” was then taken into English and other Romance languages as “ideal.”

Mariesa Lenz has been a designer for over fifteen years and has worked for companies such as Marriott, The World Bank, US Space Force, US Customs and Intelligence Agency, Mailchimp, Pivotal Labs and many more. She likes to think she resides in narrow overlaps between design, science, and art.
